We share with you the beautiful story of Michelle & Angel who had a careful choice of every detail. Bringing together Chinese culture and Mexican culture in the best way was not easy, but with a bit of dedication, a beautiful result was achieved. We all enjoyed a myriad of sensations and had an incredible time!
The family of the bride and groom had Yucatan tours and travels, getting to know the most beautiful part of this land, visiting the great pyramid of Kukulcan in Chichen Itzá, the Mayan city of Uxmal, the municipality of Izamal and several cenotes. They enjoyed every moment leaving the best for the last one, the wedding at Hacienda Tamchen Merida Yucatan!
The haciendas in Yucatán are the perfect combination of elegance and uniqueness for Mexico destination weddings, with an architectural beauty integrated into a natural and cultural environment. The hacienda Tamchén, in the Yucatan peninsula, gives us beautiful spaces and landscapes. This is how Michelle & Angel selected the spaces they liked the most and adjusted their ideas to this beautiful enclosure.
Michelle and Angel had two getting ready, the first to perform the ancient Chinese tea ceremony and the second for the Mayan wedding ceremony, both looks were perfect!
Chinese culture outfits
Michelle & Angel were in their respective bedrooms, ready to honor their families at the first ceremony, to strengthen human relationships. The tea ceremony is a custom of Chinese culture, consists of thanking the parents, grandparents, and family of the bride and groom for the blessing they give them when they realize this union. In all the environment the color red predominated, a symbol of abundance, love, and prosperity among other more attributions, it is an important color for the Chinese culture and it was used in clothing and decoration.
Michelle decided to be more simple, wearing a long, fresh black dress with a beautiful neckline on her back and shoulders. The headdress on her hair was perfect, full of red roses in combination with the color of her lips. She prepared together with her ladies in anticipation of her lover.
The ladies, almost ready, shone and framed Michelle, wearing bright red cocktail dresses, in the style of each one, all of them were beautiful.
Angel, like a Chinese warrior, wears a suit known as “Changshan” red with images of the dragon and phoenix embroidered in gold, symbolism, and style typical of China. Very elegant and ready for the ceremony, he has the duty to overcome a series of challenges to reach Michelle, before going to his parents.
Now Angel is ready to face the challenges. In ancient Chinese culture these challenges were very risky and today they are only a metaphor for those ancient ones. Everyone had fun with funny challenges, some of these such as imitating a ballet dance, passing the seaweed without falling, having a few drinks, among others; family and friends laughed at each of them.
Once the challenges were met, Angel went victoriously to the enclosure of his beloved, she receives him with happiness, now both are ready to return to “the home of Angel. In that place, the family of both was waiting for them. On the way to the enclosure, one of the women covers Michelle with a red umbrella, which symbolizes that this union will have a descendant to the family, meanwhile, the other friends throw rice and seeds to the umbrella; joy and fun were noticeable at every moment.
Chinese culture and traditions: tea ceremony
In the enclosure, a tea of roses with red fruits awaits, a decoration with images of Chinese culture in every detail, the red and gold are predominant, symbolizing abundance, happiness, passion, and prosperity. Images of the dragon and phoenix can’t be missing while a person as the host is responsible for explaining each meaning of the ceremony, trying to be carried out as it should be.

In the decorated space are placed a pair of chairs (for whom they will be thanked) and a pair of cushions in front of the chairs (for the bride and groom, for whom they will be thankful), a pair of ladies take care of serving the tea in a Chinese tea set with red and golden details, known as Gaiwan. He begins to thank Michelle’s parents, to continue with the rest of his family, between laughter and tears they exchange emotional words for those present; with the turn of Angel’s family the ceremony ends, all with a feeling of happiness, pride and hope are ready for the next step, the Mayan ceremony.
Chinese culture connection with Mayan culture
Enthusiastic, after the tea ceremony, both had a change from outfit to a more modern and cosmopolitan nuptial style. Enjoying the help and company of their friends and a good and delicious sparkling champagne. Both wrote their love story in a notebook, from the moment they met and then shared it with all their guests at the Mayan ceremony.
A white dress with cleavage, high neck, and trumpet cut accentuated Michelle’s figure, with predominant embroidery and details with shiny stones. The complement was a long veil, striking makeup of glamorous style with a loose and elegant hairstyle. She received company and help from her ladies to adjust details and make her look beautiful and perfect.
Angel enjoyed a moment with his friends and then got ready alone. He wore a dark blue suit, combined with the white of his shirt and a peach bow. He looked handsome!

A beautiful photoshoot was the first call for the wedding, Michelle & Angel posed elegant and glamorous demonstrating their mutual love, the beautiful scenery of the hacienda Tamchen were the perfect ones to enhance their affection. Now they are ready, the Mayan wedding awaits them.
A carpet of white roses dominated the ceremony and transparent chairs. The atmosphere was filled with an unparalleled floral scent. That’s how Michelle & Angel began its Mayan wedding ceremony. The priest and his assistants had already prepared the necessary elements for the ritual, and the sound of the seashells gave the starting point for the ceremony.
This ceremony has many elements and meanings. The Mayan wedding consists of invoking the “Great Creator” to bless this bond, honoring all the paths traveled in the life of the bride and groom and the decisions taken to realize this union. Michelle, Angel and their families were very excited to know this ritual and feel the blessing of the Mayan priest.
After the ceremony the couple had their photographic session, intimate and simple, framing the best day of their life. A welcome cocktail began for all the guests, enjoying some drinks and music of Yucatecan trova, a moment of relaxation before the celebration.

Yucatan, Mexico, and China in every detail
Flowers and roses, the protagonists at all times. With the meaning of abundance and love, Michelle & Angel placed them in everything. The furniture had a neutral color, white in each of the elements, providing elegance and subtlety.
The unforgettable, a delicious and huge circular cake 70 cm in diameter!
Bride and groom’s families and friends celebrated and had as much fun as any other day, they appreciated the beauty of the historic venue, impacted by each of its spaces that were divinely illuminated. A Yucatecan banquet was the ideal.
The words and dedications of love were not long in coming. It was not until the first dance that the fireworks exploded, drawing beautiful lights and colors in the sky. Finally, the dance and enjoyment took over the atmosphere, accompanied by a perfect climate, which was a day pleasantly unforgettable for everyone. We will always carry them in the heart of Yucatanlove!
