Know the unexpected expenses for a wedding 📝
When you think about your wedding day it can be hard to imagine how difficult the planning will be. Some of the hardest and most important things to plan are definitely the budgets since we need to make sure they cover some of the unexpected expenses that can arise as well as everything we want to have on our wedding day.
The expenses you didn’t suspect
Although getting married sounds very exciting, you have to be aware that some unforeseen events may arise. We know that these situations are not ideal because you want that day to be perfect, but the reality may be different. But don’t worry, here’s a list of expenses you might have not considered.
1. Makeup and hair tests
You probably haven’t decided if you want to wear your hair down or up, or if you want a natural makeup or something more extravagant. So that you don’t have any more doubts, we recommend you go to your trusted makeup artist who, through a make-up test, will help you choose the perfect look.
2. Fitting in the dress
Visit wedding dress shops is often exhausting. It’s frustrating when you find the dress you’ve been dreaming of but oh, surprise! it doesn’t fit you like you want it to. It’s normal that you may have to make some adjustments. Take into account that these changes usually cost some extra money, but everything will be worth it to make that dream dress fit your silhouette.
3. Accessories
Are you sure you got everything ready? Remember that the accessories you will wear on your wedding day are also important. Depending on how much jewelry you want to wear, you will have to pay for it. Whether it’s a delicate necklace or extravagant earrings, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable on that magical day.
4. Formalities where you will get married
Many couples decide to celebrate their marriage in places far from their hometown. If you are one of those who have decided to have a destination wedding, make sure you check out the paperwork you need to get done to get married; as well as the cost of it so you don’t get a surprise.

5. Unforeseen weather
Every bride dreams that her wedding day will be perfect, but sometimes the weather is not in our favor. We recommend that you always have a plan B in case any situation arises and of course, so you don’t spend extra money. If your wedding will be outdoors, make sure you rent a tent in case of bad weather.
6. Transportation for your guests
Many couples decide to rent buses or private cars to transport their guests if the reception and wedding ceremony are located in distant places. Keep in mind that this courtesy is somewhat costly because it depends on the number of guests who will be attending.
7. Surprise Guests
Normally your guests are asked to confirm their assistance but on many occasions, some do not take the time to confirm. That causes that on the day of your life, “uninvited” guests or extra people arrive without prior notice, like your cousin who decided to bring his girlfriend.
That’s when you might have to ask the catering service to add another set of dishes. To prevent this from happening you may want to consider five extra people while making the guest list in case of any situation.
8. Extra Hours
Everything’s going great! You and your guests are enjoying the party but suddenly the rental limit is about to expire and those “two more hours” are usually an extra expense. Consider at least one more hour in the planning.
9. Secret expenses
There are some couples who celebrate their marriage in a big way! That’s why they decide to have a dinner wedding and an after-party. But remember that no matter how small an event is, these events represent extra money. Don’t forget to include them in your planning list if you want to have them.
Another detail you may want to consider is the number of dresses you’re going to wear during your wedding day, or if apart from the DJ you want to hire a live band.
Remember, establishing a budget can be hard. But if you consider some of the expenses we presented to you, your wedding day is going to be memorable.
